Social Structure
The Shang social ladder is as follows:
1.Shang Emporer
- The emporer himself resided at the top of the social ladder
2.Feudal lords/nobles
- Often composed of the noble family and owned slaves that worked the land of the nobles
3.Peasants
- Worked for the nobles, were not slaves in their own right
3. Herders and Craftmen
- Were often peasents as well
4.Labor workers
- Never obtained an education, manual labor
5.Slaves
- Mostly used for sacrifices and consisted of prisoners of war or 'debt slaves'
