It allowed them to create the first instruments; archeological expeditions have found the remnants of bronze drums and copper cymbals. Jade was often carves into fantastic shapes of animals and porcelain was discovered, greatly affecting Shang art. Many vessels were inscribed with a “monster” motif that had the name of the clan or family name carved onto it. Such objects were buried with its owner. One of the most famous and by far largest pieces of Shang artwork is the Simuwu Quadripod, which approximately weighs 832.84 kg, just about 1836 pounds and serves as a clear indication of the advancement of the Shang people.
